Esther Goldstein

ESTHER KAREN HEMI GOLDSTEIN obtained a Bachelor degree in Science from the University of Toronto in 1986 and in Social Work from Ryerson University in 1990. She is a registered member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

Esther worked as a hospital social worker in the Greater Toronto Area for 12 years, primarily with the geriatric population. A significant portion of her work involved counselling senior clients and their families about the difficult task of relocating to care homes and assisting them with the placement process. As Ontario’s health care system evolved, people began turning to the private sector to care for their elderly that could not be managed at home. Information about retirement homes and many other private services was limited and hard to find so Esther created the website and its affiliated annual publication the Comprehensive Guide to Retirement Living®.

In 2016 Esther embarked on creating a second website as a competitive and comparative database of retirement homes across Canada.  In addition, she shares her knowledge through article/blog contributions, media interviews and lectures/workshops at various venues including retirement homes, community agencies and private companies/organizations on “Senior Living Options” and related topics. In 2018, Esther partnered with Pivotal to bring to it’s widest-possible audience.

In September 2015, Esther’s appointment to the Stakeholders Advisory Council (SAC) of Ontario’s new Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority was renewed for a third term. At the end of 2016 Esther was appointed to the Chair position of the SAC. Additionally, Esther volunteers her time as a member of the Board of Directors of The International Breastfeeding Centre in Toronto.

Paul Cutajar

  • Senior Partner – Pivotal Aging Innovations Inc.
  • Licensed REALTOR® – Master Accredited Senior Agent™

In working as a REALTOR® for the past 13 years, Paul began his career shift in working with seniors over 10 years ago after experiencing a life changing event with the passing of his father. Paul recognized the importance of a career niche in working with seniors in real estate. Over several years, as an Accredited Senior Agent™ (ASA™) he became Canada’s first MASTER-Accredited Senior Agent™. In Paul’s continued quest in building his network of exceptional specialists, delivering very specific solutions, a chance opportunity presented itself. In meeting a business associate, an opportunity arose to develop an organization that could build and deliver senior focused programs to not only seniors but to professionals who work with them. They wanted the company to offer Innovative Programs for Aging Canadians at a Pivotal time in their lives. Pivotal Aging Innovations Inc. was created!

These programs would include proprietary training models in delivering the MOHLTC mandated Policy and Procedures for the LTC (long term care) industry known as W.R.A.F.T. (Wounds, Abuse, Falls, Training). As well, the importance and understanding of being Person Centred. Soon after, the ASA and MASTER-ASA programs were acquired, and further development of similar training was launched, serving the Mortgage Industry, (Senior Mortgage Professionals – approved by the Mortgage Professionals Of Canada). In late 2019, a training program for Estate Lawyers will launch. 2018 also produced a joint venture initiative with Senioropolis Inc., known as, as well as the launch of the not-for-profit Canadian Seniors Association.

Paul offers a compassionate understanding in working with older adults and the importance of being Person Centred. He continues to work on and develop unique programs and opportunities relating to working with older adults in transition as well as recognizes the roles we may all play.

“It has been a journey of self discovery, challenges and great emotional reward to know that I can effectively empower others to elevate themselves within their industry. When we strip it all away, all that really matters is health, dignity and empathy.”
